Material Composition
Blades are typically made from high-grade chromium-vanadium steel (such as DIN 1.2235) or tungsten-molybdenum steel (such as DIN 1.2604). These materials offer the right balance of flexibility and heat tolerance for industrial cutting.
Specialized Tooth Geometry
To cut structural grating and railing tubing effectively, blades feature fine, low-pitch tooth density with a high tooth count—up to several hundred teeth. Tooth shapes often include the Parrot (P) or Triangular (T) form to sweep melted steel out of the kerf efficiently.
Hardenability and Tensioning
Because these blades operate at speeds between 80 and 125+ meters per second, they receive uniform hardening (typically around 45 HRC) and proper tensioning. This maintains structural integrity, prevents cracks, and reduces dangerous lateral runout during high-stress cutting.
Taper-Ground Flanks
Friction saw blades are generally taper-ground or hollow-ground on both sides. This geometry creates clearance between the blade body and the workpiece, preventing jamming in the cut.
